Granada’s historic centre is beautiful and almost always packed. Right next to the Alhambra there is a garden most visitors walk past without knowing it is there — and it is where I take people who want calm, unhurried photos.

On Sundays — and on most other days of the week too — Granada’s historic centre is packed with tourists. In a one-hour shoot that means waiting for people to leave the frame, sharing every good spot with other cameras, and little calm to find the right pose, place and angle together.

The Carmen de los Mártires is a hidden treasure right next to the Alhambra. Most visitors walk past without knowing it is there. It has:
— shade from the midday sun, which is strong in Granada;
— gardens, trees, hedges, ponds and old stone arches: natural and architectural backgrounds in one place;
— views over the whole of Granada from the top of the hill;
— and, most importantly, a bit of peace: no fighting for a good spot with other photo-eager tourists.

Entry is free. We meet at the entrance gate on Paseo de los Mártires, so the whole hour goes into your photos rather than into walking.
The gardens keep their own opening hours, longer in summer than in winter, and they occasionally close for private events — I check the date when we book. If you would rather have the Alhambra itself in your photos, the classic alternative is the walk from Plaza Nueva along the Carrera del Darro: see my Granada page.

Contrasting colours always look great in photos. Beyond that, wear whatever you like and feel good in — tell me the style you want (formal, romantic, playful or something more unconventional) and I will plan the shoot around it. To check a date, go to Booking & Enquiries.

Dates go early for May, June and September. Send the date, the place and the feel you have in mind — I reply as soon as possible, guaranteed.
