A session before the communion, not during it

I'm Adam Lankamer, a photographer based in La Herradura (Almuñécar). For First Communions I offer an outdoor session — on the beach, at a chapel or in an old town anywhere between Nerja, Almuñécar, Salobreña and Motril — with edited photos, a printed album and recordatorios, for €399 or €499.

The day itself is full: church, family, the celebration. Each parish also sets its own rules about photographs during the ceremony. So the session happens on another day, at least two weeks before the communion and preferably earlier, in the communion outfit, with one or two unhurried hours.

Those two weeks are what make it work: you choose the photographs, I prepare the album, and the recordatorios are printed before the day. If you would also like the communion day itself photographed, it can be booked separately.

Where we take the photographs

My suggestion is the chapel at Punta de la Mona, above Marina del Este, with the sea below. But you choose: the beach, the old streets of Almuñécar or Salobreña, the white steps of Frigiliana, or a place that means something to your family. There are more ideas in my guide to photo spots between Nerja and Salobreña.

What the packages include

Both packages include the session, the edited photographs as digital files within seven days in a private online gallery, a 20×30 cm album of 20 pages, and printed recordatorios with your child's photo and name. The difference is the number: 25 photographs and 25 recordatorios for €399, or 50 and 50 for €499. Travel within 100 km of La Herradura is included.

If you need more than 50 photographs or recordatorios, tell me and I will adapt the package.

Recordatorios, briefly

In Spain, families give guests a small printed card as a keepsake of the communion, usually with the child's photo, name and the date. These are the recordatorios. You pick the photograph from the session, and the cards are printed in time for the day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a First Communion photo session cost?

€399 with 25 photographs, an album and 25 recordatorios, or €499 with 50 photographs, an album and 50 recordatorios. VAT and travel within 100 km are included.

When should the session take place?

At least two weeks before the communion, and earlier is better, so there is time to choose the photographs and print the album and recordatorios.

Do you photograph the communion day itself?

It is not part of these packages, but it can be booked separately. Each parish has its own rules about photography during the ceremony, so it is worth asking yours.

Where can the session take place?

Wherever you like within reach. My suggestion is the chapel at Punta de la Mona, above Marina del Este; beaches, old towns and a family garden work too.

Can the family be in the photos?

Yes. Parents, siblings and grandparents are welcome; most of the session is your child, with family photos as well.

What should my child wear?

The communion dress or suit only — the session is all in the communion outfit, with no change of clothes.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains on the day of the session, we reschedule it.

When do we receive the album and the recordatorios?

No later than one day before the ceremony. The digital photographs arrive within seven days of the session.

How is the booking paid?

50% when you book, with a signed agreement, and the rest on the day of the session. Bank transfer, Bizum, card or cash.

Which languages do you work in?

English, French, Polish and Russian. I'm learning Spanish.
