The place

The photographs on this page were taken in Granada: three in the gardens of the Carmen de los Mártires, the rest in the historic centre, from Paseo de la Bomba to the Carrera del Darro and Paseo de los Tristes, below the Alhambra.

Granada’s historic centre is packed with tourists on most days of the week. For a calm shoot I recommend the Carmen de los Mártires, a hidden garden right next to the Alhambra that most visitors walk past: shade, ponds, old stone arches, cypresses and views over the whole of Granada. Entry is free.

If you want Granada’s best-known sights in your photos, we start at Plaza Nueva and follow the Carrera del Darro, the old street along the river, with the Alhambra above the river on one side and the lanes of the Albaicín on the other.

Granada is 82 km from La Herradura — about an hour by car, within the 100 km of travel included in every package.
